Spaces that perform for the people inside them
TERRAVERTA Habitats is a nature-led design and architecture consultancy. We design and build high-performance homes, schools, and living spaces with sustainable practices. We also advise clients, organisations, and developers on how to make their spaces work harder for the people who occupy them.

The problem we exist to solve
The spaces we create are among the most powerful levers available to address climate change. If we make more considered choices about materials, orientation, energy systems, and how long a building is designed to last, we can genuinely make a positive impact.
Secondly, there is the other side of that same problem. A building can be environmentally responsible and still quietly fail the people inside it. Poor air quality or flow. Insufficient natural light. Materials that have toxic content. Spaces that disconnect people from nature and from each other.
Our built environments shapes human performance, wellbeing, and health in ways that most of us have simply stopped noticing, because we have accepted underperforming spaces as the norm.
The spaces we inhabit are the most underleveraged wellness tools we have.
TERRAVERTA Habitats was founded to transform the built environment, one space at a time.
Our testimonials
WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING
ERF795 – Matt
I have built and renovated my properties in basically all conceivable material available! It was only until I got to stay over in a CLT home for 2 days that I decided I would never build another way again. The natural energy you get from the spaces is quite unique. The structure is comforting, inviting and nurturing. When you build with CLT, you're building a HOME, not a house!
Project 874 - Yolanda, Barbara & Lucille
Our experience working with TerraVerta has been very positive and pleasant from start to finish. Even though there were challenges like distance and timezones involved, Belinda and Shawn were always accommodating to have meetings to communicate plans, progress or challenges a building project inevitably brings.
Seth & Kayla
It's been such a smooth and great process working with you and Sean, and even though we are still in the beginning stages, we're loving every step of it. The thought of building your first home can be overwhelming but you guys have made it very easy for us, from explaining all the steps to the design which has turned out perfect. We are excited for the next steps and starting the building process.
Cozy Cabin - Cate & Bruce
This beautifully designed cabin is always a delight to stay in. First impressions are usually always true and lasting and visitors to this cabin express this felling on arrival every single time. Aesthetically and energetically, this cabin works its magic.
What we do
Our work spans three connected areas. Whether we are building from the ground up, delivering a pre-designed cabin or renovation, or advising a client on a renovation, property decisions, or leveraging up the outcomes of a space, the discipline behind it stays the same: nature-led, performance-first, and guided by the four pillars of biophilic design, sustainability, circularity, and inclusivity.
Homes, Schools and Estates.
We design and build high-performance homes, schools, and estate developments from sustainable materials, conceived around how the people inside them will actually live, learn, and work.
Informed by the full palette of bio-based building practice, our builds are delivered as a complete turnkey service from first brief through to handover.
Cabin & Modular solutions.
Three pre-designed TERRAVERTA Habitats models, T1, T2, and T3, built for speedy implementation without sacrificing the thinking behind them. The fastest way to experience what a TERRAVERTA Habitats space feels like, on almost any site. For income, for escape, or for additional living space, done properly.
TERRAVERTA Habitats Advisory
We advise on builds, renovations, and existing spaces. TERRAVERTA runs feasibility studies that show what is possible before money is committed. We consult directly on how to improve the performance, wellness, and human outcomes of existing spaces, whether that is a home, a workplace, a school, a retreat, or a healthcare environment.
The future of
Construction
Cross-laminated timber (CLT), a cornerstone of mass timber technology, represents the responsible and innovative future of construction. The construction industry face increasing pressure to transition to sustainable building materials that prioritize environmental stewardship. Traditional construction materials, like cement and steel, consume vast amounts of energy in their production, transportation, and on-site use, contributing significantly to global carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. Cement production alone accounts for approximately 8% of these emissions.
Nature-Led Design for Demonstrably Improved Outcomes
The case for biophilic design has been growing for thirty years. Access to natural light, material warmth, connection to the outdoors, reduced acoustic stress, and biophilic spatial design all produce documented changes in cognitive performance, sleep quality, stress response, and long-term wellbeing. These are not lifestyle upgrades. They are outcomes that every space either delivers or withholds.
We call it the Human Performance Effect. It is the gap between how a space was designed to function and how it actually shapes the life being lived inside it. Every TERRAVERTA Habitats project, whether we are building it or advising on it, is designed to close that gap and measurably, positively impact its inhabitants.
Did you know?
- 40% of global CO2 emissions come from the built environment IEA / UN Environment Programme
- There’s been a 15% cognitive performance increase documented in daylit workspaces Heschong Mahone Group
- We are measuring 37% lower stress markers measured in biophilic environments University of Queensland.
OUR FOUR PILLARS
HARMONIOUS LIVING SOLUTIONS
Everything we design, build, and advise on is guided by four principles.
They are not a checklist. They are a design discipline.
1. Biophilic Design
Connection to nature is a biological need, not a design trend. We bring it into every space we touch, from the orientation of a window to the material of a wall.
2. Sustainability
The materials we employ, the methods we use, and the buildings we deliver are chosen with their full lifecycle in mind, not just their cost at the point of purchase.
3. Circularity
We design with the eventual deconstruction of a building in mind. Materials should be able to return to use, not to landfill.
4. Inclusivity
Spaces that actually work for real people in all their variety. Not the average occupant of a building regulations manual.
terraverta, our mission statement.
We aim to reshape how people experience the spaces they live, work, and grow in through sustainable, biophilic design that enhances wellbeing, performance and long-term value.
By integrating strategic design thinking with sustainable build methodologies, including mass timber (CLT), we create environments that are healthier to live in, more efficient to build and operate, and aligned with a regenerative future.
