TerraVerta is the start of what we believe to be a beautiful, enhanced and conscious shift in the way we create buildings and homes that serve as living, working and learning environments.

TerraVerta was born from a passion for changing the building framework we know today and a vision to challenge the built environment. Ultimately, it is a conscious decision to play a more responsible role in the broader context of the built environment and global construction industry.

Our TerraVerta Habitats are environments that embody 4 design strategy pillars: circularity, inclusivity, biophilic design and sustainability. Our drivers are aiming for CO2 neutrality or better yet Net Zero environments and empowering local community and trade.

Our heart intention is to reconnect ourselves with our surroundings – ones that are synchronous with nature and people, integrated into the landscape, designed and built for an experience in which an investment in a (building) is also an investment in the planet.

TerraVerta Habitats defy preconceptions about homes built from wood by embracing an exciting new technology in the world of Mass Timber – using Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) , deemed the concrete of the future, to create an environment that embodies the beauty, health and structural advantages of wood without any of the traditional drawbacks.

The wellness and environmental benefits of operating or living within the natural material of a timber home have long been acknowledged. Designing with sustainability in play allows this habitat to truly change how we function.

The technical benefits are many, it adds better insulation and soundproofing. It is renewable, efficient in construction ( saving up to 40% on build time), sustainable, versatile and safe. And ofcourse, beautifully crafted.

This rapidly-growing style of construction is able to challenge a previously cement biased, heavy CO2 weighted and negatively impactful build methodology and change the way we consider building.

The first TerraVerta Habitats are available for sale are in the pristine Lake Brenton residential estate on the shores of the Knysna estuary in the Garden Route, South Africa. Set amongst indigenous trees and visited by local wildlife, these homes overlook one of the country’s most picturesque landscapes – unspoiled, undisturbed, and unforgettable.
